The Sketchbook Project

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

This little traveling project has the ability to make anyone (not that we aren’t already) an artist. It allows us to become part of history, to share our thoughts and imagery with the world. A lot of people don’t really see themselves as “talented” or “able” when it comes to traditional art. Truth is, if enough time is dedicated we can all become wonderful artists. Art is pure technique, and if practiced enough it can be mastered. This post is simply to encourage you to be creative, even if it’s not through the sketchbook project, pick up a sketchbook or anything with blank pages and draw what you see as well as what you imagine. DOODLE AWAY!

“Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country.

After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

Anyone – from anywhere in the world – can be a part of the project. To participate and have us send you a sketchbook that will go on tour, start by choosing a theme to the right”
